Chef Laurence Gottlieb

Chef Laurence has over two decades of professional culinary experience that spans the country, from Maine and Virginia and from Texas and Georgia. He continues the tradition of a unique and elevated dining experience at Café Marquesa.

Most notably, Chef Laurence was part of the opening team at The Refuge in 2021 – a new hotel with six food outlets that he oversaw and managed. In addition, he reconceptualized his family bakery business, Gottlieb’s Bakery, that has been a Savannah institution since 1884. Some may say his passion and enthusiasm for his culinary art is passed down from generation to generation. Much like the continued culinary legacy that embodies Café Marquesa.

Chef Laurence’s skills are showcased in an array of coveted culinary media outlets including Southern Living, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Gourmet and in his own cookbook titled, Refined American Cuisine.

Since joining the iconic Café Marquesa, Chef Laurence has built upon the exemplary reputation of the well loved Old Town restaurant. A tremendous following insued. Locals and visitors are reserving far in advance to experience his culinary prowess.
